My mum has been hinting to me for the longest time that she hasn't been to bkk since more than 10 years ago, and she's envious of the fact that I scoot over to bkk ever so frequently (thanks to citi's incentives trips and weekends getaway with the ntu peeps and colleagues). Ever since my granny's case has taken a toll on my mum, I decided to bring my mum over to bkk over a 5 day retreat.
Hopped on to ThaiAirways (cos I don't think my mum will every take budget airlines :x), and booked a 4 nights stay in Novotel Platinum. Loved the location - situated just directly above my fav shopping paradise Platinum Mall, which makes things so much easier for us to unload our shopping loot. Heh.
The superb wantonmee and lorbah! It's almost to-die-for kind. Even mummy gave a thumbs up, that we even went for this for 2 lunches consecutively.
Brought her to Chinatown (Yaowarat) for the seafood dinner and bird's nest for dessert thereafter.
Headed down to the temple too (after almost nearly cheated by the locals over there). Thank god we managed to hop onto some good-hearted tuktuk boy who scooted us over here. Phew. A place highly recommended by my brother - who claims that ALL his prayers came true after visiting this place!
Street food in bkk is a must! The must-have chicken wings after late night clubbing each time I was with my colleagues and friends always. I still had it nonetheless during this trip - in the day time though.
Headed over Mr. Jones Orphanage at Seenspace 13 for brunch and dessert on the last day before flying back to sg. Have saw a few friends post and rave about this place through IG recently, and I was really bent on coming to this place. Read from online that Seenspace 13 is somewhat like our Holland Village equivalent, with brunch and chill out places.
It's really a whimsical place that brings you back all the childhood memories. You'll see horses hung on the ceiling with the carousel.
And you'll see teddy bears on all chairs.
And there'll be this wooden box on every table with a little surprise. I call this Dessert Warfare!
Honestly, the food ain't fantastic. The desserts are the highlights of this place though. Too bad mummy and I ain't too much of a sweet tooth :(
BUT, still a place definitely worth going for the interiors!
Mummy taking a pic of me. Check out the bear tugged behind me, and the sunnies on my bear! Not forgetting the silliest joke ever by my bro that got me and mum laughing uncontrollably through our tears for a good 10 min through whatsapping!
The hotel also had an infinity pool that was really under utilized. Mummy and I had the whole pool and place to ourselves after breakfast in the hotel. The serenity and quietness in the morning lazing there was something to escape from the hustle and bustle of life back in sg.
Sitting by the infinity edge. I wanna be back here soon!
