Spain & Portugal Holiday
Saturday, December 3, 2011

My 3rd big holiday of year 2011 - to Spain & Portugal. To be exact, Spain. Cos we only spent 1 night at Portugal. Generally a very slow paced and relaxing trip. Slept a lot - to my luxury, especially on the coach journeys. Ate a lot too (sigh) - thats why I hit the gym this morning (and coincidentally met AJK there)

Ok here goes the peekkssss ... :)

Traveling wif my family - minus my bro JR. It's only ever since I stopped working for my dad that I can have this luxury of holiday-ing wif my parents. And it's only at times like these when I spend a great deal of time (and quarreling) with dad too.. There was this dinner that I quarreled with him. We didnt even care that the rest of the tour group people were looking at us. Ended up the tour guide came over with the pretext to "toast" us..

My dad is a majestic person. To me, he's someone whom I can never outtalk him. Never. It's a good thing that I stopped working for his company - thats why we still can maintain this father&daughter relationship. Anyways... (sigh)

My 1st ever Europe trip. Alot of visiting to churches and cathedrals. I hear the story of Jesus everyday - his reborn, power & influence. The tour guide even screened the movie "Passion of the Christ"...

There was this cathedral that I visited. It was said that there were 3 bombs dropped on it, and yet somehow they all got stuck on the roof, ie. they did not explode. The 3 bombs were displayed in the cathedral, with the embedded holes in the ceiling for visitors to view.. They say it was him who protected the cathedral...

I seriously lost count of how many churches/cathedrals we went during this trip. Gothic church even, to the extent that I couldn't differentiate which was which, and what was what.

However, I gotta admit, the interiors were awe-aspiring..

Sipping mocha in the city. A day of R&R.

@ Barcelona. MIssed the bull ring fight and the flamingo dance show! :(

Porcelain was a common sight.

Me and bro. I'm so short, standing beside him...

Some of my personal favs...

In the city of Toledo

With Barcelona behind mum and me...

Over-exposed @ the most western point of Europe - Lisbon.

Viewing the sunset @ Alicante.

When's my next big holiday?

Jacky Cheung's concert 2011!
Sunday, August 28, 2011

Brought my mum to watch 张学友 concert last night at the indoor stadium, since dad was not around. Mummy was so sporty that she stayed wide awake throughout!

Jacky Cheung's 1/2 Century tour!

We swooned to his serenade..

He's still deserved a thumbs up! Super 投入 and 用心. He sang every word to it's finest detail and concentration. Power! :)

Convo 2011!
Wednesday, August 24, 2011

It's my convo today. The 8am phone call this morning made me tear. Cos I was told that my dad ain't gonna make it (again) for the ceremony. 好久都没落泪了, 可是我今天有落泪了. Goes to show how impt he is in my life. I almost didn't want to go for the ceremony.

Finally, after wiping up my tears, I decided to try one more time. I text-ed my dad this...
爸,今天是我的毕业典礼. 我真的希望你能来. 地址是 461 Clementi Rd. 最迟一点要到.

My phone rang half an hour later. My dad. He said, Ok I'll go. I'll go home to pick you up. This phone call made me tear even more. I cant pen down my feelings in words. Its simply beyond words.

Never mind that the whole journey there was quiet. Never mind that my dad acted nonchalant. Never mind that we didn't talk at all. His presence was all it mattered.

Putting on the mortar board for the 2nd time in my life.

Finally. A photo wif my beloved parents.

I went on stage twice today. One for the conventional degree delivery. The other one for the top student award. My cohort stood up and cheered for me the second time round. It was the best moment. :)

The fact that I know both my parents are sitting behind me this time round, waiting for the moment for me to go on stage, made everything all worthwhile.

To me, its priceless. Thanks dad, for being there.

Alaska Holiday
Sunday, June 26, 2011

I'm safely back in SG. Alaska had reported of earthquakes a few days ago, and I've had a few friends calling/msging me asking me if I'm really back in SG. Yay. I've got nice friends around me. The best statement I've got was... "Goes to show God still loves you...".

Anyways, yup I've got my photos up here in my entry. For more photos, pls refer to my FB.

Finally touched down @ Vancouver after a 4 hr flight to HK + 2 hr stopover @ HK + 12 hr flt to Vancouver. *My poor back and legs*

On board the Celebrity Millenium cruise. Our stateroom wif the window.

@ Portage Glacier Daylodge.

Some nice scenery pics taken on the cruise.

1st stop - Juneau.

We went to see flowersss....

2nd stop @ Skagway. Where we took the heli ride up to the husky dog camp!

Puppyville @ Dog Camp.

Seriously, I thought it was very poor thing for the huskies. But the trainers said that they loved to pull us along the snow! It was a really good experience! The huskies were lovable and friendly!

3rd stop @ Icy Strait Point. Where we had our 1st attempt at Alaska Crabs. Thumbs up!

4th stop @ Ketchikan.

Stopped by @ Landing Zone Grill for cheesy salmon burgers. Sizzling hot in the cold weather.

All our meals involved the Alaska Crabs. Couldn't give them a miss! Hah.

Some of the nice pictures to my preference...

My favorite family picture. :)

Along the streets of Vancouver. Nice bustling town. Lots of Asians.

There were times when emotions still got the better of me and I felt myself feeling emotional at times. It's at times like these which made me ponder more, and reflected back. Deep down, I really still feel empty. That deep sense of hollowness within me.

It's on trips like this when I really felt laid back, and gave me time to think through what I've done and been through these years. I've officially cleared my sleep debt, haha!

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to my trip to Taipei this friday wif Ivy. Woots!

Welcoming 2011!
Friday, December 31, 2010

Its come to the end of 2010 and in another few hours, we'll be embracing year 2011.

Looking back, in retrospect, it's been a rather eventful 2010 for me too. Lots of changes made, whether good or bad. Lets look at the list:-

Friends: Went for our first ever holiday @ Bali with the regulars. Had tons of fun! I'm glad that we still make efforts to meet up for drinks/meals. And I enjoyed myself @ zouk this wed. Thanks buddy and ivy babe for the company! (not to mention that I screwed up my work the next day and resigned to mc in the end) No more weekday drinking anymore - I cant afford to screw up my work. Grrrr. But to the few gems (yes, you know who you are), thanks for still being there for me :)

Work: I'm really glad things are looking up for me at the new working environment (not forgetting the tears that flowed down initially and the strong urge to just give everything all up), I'm definitely hoping good things are here to stay, and PLEASE do! My new year resolution: To establish an outstanding track record and to have zero error rates!

Family: The family bond btwn me, mummy and the youngest bro is getting stronger. Too bad the elder bro seems to be drifting away. The regular weekends brunch wif mummy, the indefinitely frequent sms from mummy to me, letting me know that I'm well regarded for and well taken of...

Relationship: Well yes, I'm still very much single. I've been really too busy with work (slogging an average of 12 hrs a day) and studies. Excuses? - Maybe. Anyhow, I'll just leave things up to fate. I've done all that I can, the ones up there know...

Studies: Into the final lap already. Left with only 2 exams in Jan and Feb 2011. I've come all the way here, put in that huge amount of effort, I have to make it. For myself, for my dad. I shall persevere on...!

My 2011 Resolutions?
I wanna do well in my new banking career.
And still, I hope to meet that special someone soon - Before I really lose faith.

Have a merry, blessed and good 2011 ahead! =)

My Youngest Brother.
Friday, June 11, 2010

My youngest bro tells me he's bored to tears at home.. So much so that he actually went to www.youtube.com (!!!!!!) to search on how to make nuggets from chicken meat (!!!), mix them with flour and egg, plus all the necessary marination before frying them! And he's being doing it for three days at home! The first day he did it, ended up with diarrhoea. Second day was better. Today, he told me that its nice and that "jie, you should try it lor!" Hahaa.

Asked him how come he doesnt want to go out wif his friends, its not as if I gave him a curfew. He tells me that our mummy doesnt allow him to. He wants to work by selling ice-cream with his friend for $50/day but again, our mummy doesnt allow him to. Poor thing. He's left all alone at home in the day, facing his laptop and internet. He even can tell me where to watch free movies online, like via UUSee. And he tells me, "sis.. this is my most boring holiday ever." and then jokingly chided me for not wanting to go Bhutan wif him...

Looking at him, I realised how sensible my youngest bro is. If only he knows how to apply his sensibility to his studies as well...

Walking out of his room, I looked back at him again and promised him that I'll bring him out tomorrow after my lessons. Seeing the beam on his face, makes everything all worthwhile. And i know that, no matter how old he is, he will always be my youngest brother...

Unpredictable Life
Friday, July 31, 2009

Life is just so unpredictable. The sms that came in yesterday afternoon from my bro really got me so freaked out that I wanted to fly back to SG immediately. Told my mummy off for keeping it from me, though (yah...) I know that she doesnt want me to get worried and jittery while I'm outstation. I've got calls and sms coming in from relatives and my dad's friends asking me how's the situation and the ward that he's in. Seriously, I've got not much idea, except that (according to my mummy), he's in stable situation. Just that he needs to stay in more for more tests and observations.

Somehow, I should have seen it coming. Just on Sunday when I returned from Batam, as I was packing my luggage, my dad suddenly asked me when was my next trip. And I replied nonchalantly "ohh, tomorrow lor...". Seriously, it was the FIRST time that my dad ever asked me since I joined regional sales, and the FIRST time he told me to take care. Sometimes, life is like that right. The ones up there do drop you hints here and there, its how you wanna pick up the hints.

On an ending note, I'm really looking forward to going home this Saturday.

Mummy and Me
Saturday, March 21, 2009

Lets just hope all these works. Even mummy was so spontaneous in helping to get these items today. Guess she really hopes too that things will take a turn.

Spent the day wif mummy today. Treated her to spa medicure and pedicure. Yeah, just the kind of mummy-daughter time that I wanted.

Me: 妈眯,我可不可以不要嫁人?
Mummy: 你说呢?现在还有我陪你,以后我走了之后,谁来陪你?
Me: .........
